Artist's Comments

You're the light in this darkness
You're the hope to the hopeless
You're the peace to the restless
You are
greater things are yet to come
and greater things have yet to be done
in this city

Artist Thoughts on the Piece:

This was my first large-scale perspective piece!! Yay! I made a lot of mistakes (um, making sure the photo and your paper have the same height/width ratio is a MUST... haha) and there are many imperfections... but I am happy with it.

Favorite Things: the textures of their clothes, for sure

Things Learned: sometimes it's OK to let a piece be "done" even if it's not "perfect" :) and lots of stuff about backgrounds and how to make drawings look blurry

Hey, thanks very much :) It was good for me to try and discipline myself to not fudge details in scenery, haha.

I appreciate your feedback and am glad you liked it!

that fence perspective looks like it took epic patience. And the kid's jacket texture is excellent. I need to sit down one of these days and put that sorta time into a single piece...

I am but mad north-north-west: when the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw.
:iconascachilwen:
thank you! you know, I was pretty sure the fence would literally kill me. I hate drawing backgrounds and 1/2 of this picture was lines... but surprisingly enough it went quickly and I didn't hate it. also the kid's jacket is one of my favorite parts, and the older guy's jeans XD

I have to say that pouring hours and hours into one piece is rewarding, although I actually got bored with this piece which is a first :(

This is beautifully done and great music to boot. I love it. It reminds me of a picture with me and daughter.

It's really neat to hear that it resonates with you on a personal level :) Thanks for the comment and favorite-- I'm so glad you enjoy it!
